In this country we like to keep up with the very latest technology. A side effect of this is that perfectly functional PCs and IT systems are discarded to make way for the new.

PONT is investigating how these redundant PCs and systems could be used in Mbale to help organisations that are helping the poor to do their administration more efficiently and easily, and to provide internet and email access.

There is also serious lack of reference and text books in schools, hospitals etc. Internet access could open up a huge ‘virtual library’ of information.
