Political Links

Early on in the project we were privileged to have the supported our MP, Dr Kim Howells and our AM, Jane Davidson. In May 2005 Pontypridd Town Council twinned with Mbale Town, followed by the wider partnership between Rhondda Cynon Taff and Mbale District in May 2006, which was very exciting as this is a new concept in helping to deliver the Millennium development goals.

In November 2006 Steve Carter, a councillor with RCT visited Mbale to further the CAP links.

In November 2007 Jane Davidson AM (who is the Welsh Minister for Sustainable Development and the Environment) visited Mbale. During this trip she was able to visit the Vice President of Uganda, Professor Bukenya for discussions about the partnership. She was accompanied by 2 personnel officers from RCT.

In February 2008 a visit is planned by Jane Hutt AM (who is the Welsh Minister for Education).
