Secondary Health Care

It is hoped that in the near future staff from our hospitals here in Wales will visit and install medical equipment, including an Endoscopy Unit, in Mbale General Hospital.

In Mbale there is a ward for children that has 20 beds, with basic equipment, which can try to treat end stage malaria. At one time 120 children occupied 20 beds 600% occupancy rate, i.e. 6 children to 1 bed, normally it is around 2-3 per bed. We hope that sharing our knowledge of hospital management will enable them to treat patients with a great efficiency. It is also hoped by carrying out a health care survey of all the people in Mbale district that when some member of a family gets ill there will be records of their medical history. Also the Mosquito Net project is important because this will help end the current problem with malaria in the under 5 years old's.
