When visiting Mbale Hospital it was found that much of their equipment and facilities were in a state of disrepair. Some limited repairs were able to be carried out during the visits.
The hospital already had a small network of a few desktop computers with a satellite link to the internet which had been provided by another charity. PONT provided and installed a wireless extension to this to enable internet access for the laptops that the consultants at the hospital have.
PONT has shipped out some desktop PCs to link into the system to expand the access more widely across the hospital. The hospital is in the process of extending their cabled network. PONT is providing advice on how to improve the performance of this.
When the Mechanical Engineering Workshop business is up and running it will assist the hospital with mechanical repairs to trolleys, etc.
