Following heavy rains on March the 1st  2010, landslides devastated large parts of the Bududa area of Mbale. Over 300 people are missing or dead, including over 100 children trying to return home from school.  More than 2000 people have been left homeless and without any means of making a living or providing for their families.  They urgently need your support.

PONT's local partners are now working in the area to provide shelter, blankets, food and medicines. We are currently collecting financial donations which will go directly to our partner NGO's in Mbale. You can donate by cheque as described on the donate page, please write Disaster Relief Fund on the back of the cheque. A BBC article with more information on the disaster, and PONT's response to it can be found here.
